Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it free?

Everything except licensing is open source. You can build Flute from source for free. Paid tiers offer convenience (installer) and support ongoing development.

When will the installer be available?

The easy installer will be available after our GoFundMe campaign. We're building this sustainably and want community support before scaling up infrastructure.

What's the difference between Personal and Commercial?

Personal is for home use only. If you're using Flute for work, freelancing, or in a business environment, you need a Commercial license. Both include the same features—it's about the usage context.

Are the prices final?

Prices shown are pending and subject to change. We're still finalizing the pricing model based on community feedback and development costs.

Can I review the source code?

Absolutely! Everything but the licensing system is open source. We believe security through obscurity is wrong—you should be able to verify what's running on your machines.

What about privacy and security?

All communication is encrypted. Logging is controlled by you, the user. We're always improving security, and because the code is open source, you can audit it yourself.
